This project was ultimately set aside due to its conceptual and functional parallels with Özge Samanci's You Are The Ocean. At the time I began my exploration, Samanci's work was already being exhibited.

The initial inspiration for my project came from Caspar David Friedrich's Monk by the Sea. The painting's themes of vastness and introspection seemed to offer creative possibilities when viewed through the lens of interactivity. At about the same time, I had begun experimenting with Muse's Bluetooth EEG meditation aid, which translated brain activity into data. Combining this with my familiarity with Open Sound Control (OSC) and the Unreal Engine, I envisioned a project where the audience's cognitive state would shape an immersive, dynamic environment.

After learning about Samanci's work, I recognized the significant overlap in both concept and execution. Looking for the "lesson", I was encouraged to reflect on the phenomenon of simultaneous discovery in creative practices, where similar ideas emerge independently in response to shared cultural or technological contexts. While my project was ultimately abandoned, I view the experience as a valuable example of convergent thinking and a reminder of the interconnectedness of artistic inquiry.
